The Jaecoo J7 PHEV has charted over 800 registrations since its debut, with early adopters celebrated in a special event.

Since its debut back in February this year, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV has marked several firsts for both the brand and hybrids in general. Not only is this plug-in hybrid SUV the first electrified model by the brand, but it is also the most affordable new PHEV model available in Malaysia, making this sophisticated powertrain technology more accessible than before.

Since then, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV has charted over 800 registrations, signifying positive reception among Malaysians for this new hybrid technology. To celebrate this milestone, Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia (O&J) has organised a special handover event for the first 100 adopters of the J7 PHEV.

“We honour our early adopters and look forward to delivering many more units of the Jaecoo J7 PHEV to discerning households looking for a premium SUV that can go the distance,” said O&J Malaysia Vice President Emily Lek at the handover event.

Emily further explained that the J7 PHEV has become the technology leader in the C-segment SUV space thanks to its proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) powertrain technology. Featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cyl engine and an 18.3-kWh LFP battery pack, the SHS is able to provide up to 1,300 km of combined travel range from a single full tank and a full charge.

What’s also impressive is the EV-only range of the J7 PHEV, with O&J claiming an NEDC EV range of up to 106 km, thus making it the best of both worlds, the vice president added.

Several early adopters have also shared their personal experiences with the J7 PHEV during this event. One of the early adopters, Manivannan Manickam, said, “Our J7 PHEV has been great so far. It’s comfortable for the whole family, and we can go long distances without refuelling. I am glad I chose this car, it fits my needs perfectly, and I foresee that I will be driving it for many years to come.”

Meanwhile, Singaporean native Ian Chan, who drove his J7 PHEV from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, said, “I’ve had my J7 PHEV for a few months now, and I’m enjoying the experience so far. I drove it up to Malaysia just to attend this gathering and meet other J7 PHEV owners, as we don’t yet have such community events in Singapore yet.”

The Jaecoo J7 PHEV currently retails at RM158,800, with said price inclusive of a 7-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 8-year or 160,000 KM coverage for its PHEV battery pack, power motor, and motor controller unit. The latter also provides a one-to-one exchange should the battery pack’s state-of-health (SoH) drop below 70% within the warranty period mentioned.
