- Jaecoo J7 AWD Gains Electric Side-Step & Side Toolkit Box
Can you spot what's different in this Jaecoo J7 AWD? Look closely and you'll see it rocks two accessories added-on, and they are now on offer from Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia.

Chery Auto Malaysia’s Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia arm has taken to social media earlier today and revealed rather interesting promotion specifically for its Jaecoo J7 AWD model variant via its official Facebook page.
It looks like purchases of said model variant specifically gain two notable official accessories added-on, those being an electric side-step that appears to be lit-up too, as well as a side toolkit box mounted on the passenger-side rear window between the C- and D-pillars.
Apart from stating this offer being limited to the J7 AWD variant only, no other details were dished out through said FB post. It’s unclear if this is a temporary promotional addition, or if both are now permanent features. What’s certain is that this was meant to beef up the J7 AWD variant's appeal.
First launched back in July last year as the Chery premium sub-brand’s first offering for the local market, the J7 range is also locally assembled (CKD) by said parent firm at its Shah Alam plant. Units made there are also exported overseas to neighbouring markets.
Jaecoo J7 in base 2WD and up-specced 4WD guises presented during its official launch last year. Both are separated in price by RM10,000.

Locally, the J7 is available in both 2WD and AWD guises primed with a pure combustion (ICE) powertrain, as well as an electrified plug-in hybrid (PHEV) flavour that launched earlier this year back in Feb.
At the heart of the 2WD and AWD variants is a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill paired with a 7-speed DCT box, and the latter’s beefed up driveline even offers seven selectable drive and terrain modes that we properly tested out just before its launch.
it appears that both the side toolkit box (left) and electric lit-up side-stand (right) are offered exclusively as complimentary additions in the J7 AWD.

The J7 PHEV instead employs a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill paired with an e-motor and 18.3 kWh battery pack. Tied with a DHT automatic box, this setup’s stronger lean on efficiency is reflected by its claimed combined petrol-electric range of over 1,300 KM.
Back to the promotion at hand and, for the J7 AWD variant at least, the additional accessories seems to come at no extra costs. Expect this luxury off-roader to command an unchanged price tag of RM148,800 even with the added accessories.
For reference, the base J7 2WD guise commands RM10,000 lower than the J7 AWD guise at RM138,800. The electrified J7 PHEV variant, on the other hand, caps the range off by costing RM10,000 more than the J7 AWD trimline noted at RM158,800.
