- Chery Malaysia Debuts CSH Tech, Tiggo 7 PHEV & Tiggo 8 PHEV Teased Again
Chery Malaysia officially introduced its novel new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain tech via a special showcase held earlier today.

It’s certainly a busy month for Chinese automaker Chery (Chery Malaysia), evident by the recent Tiggo Cross and Jaecoo J8 launches – the latter taking place just last week through its Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia arm.
Keeping that momentum going, the firm officially launched its new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain technology earlier today. Concurrently, the firm also previewed both the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV models once again – both brimmed with CSH.
IN a special showcase, the automaker detailed its new CSH powertrain tech in full.

“With the Chery Super Hybrid platform, we aim to provide Malaysian drivers with the flexibility of electric driving, the range confidence of a hybrid, and the performance of a Chery,” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia, in his opening remarks.
“Whether it’s for city driving, eco-conscious commuting, or long-distance travel, Chery now offers a complete range — from petrol to fully electric, to hybrid electric, and now plug-in hybrid electric vehicles,” adds Chew further.

Previewed too were both the upcoming Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV models - both powered using the CSH powertrain tech mentioned.

During today’s special showcase, Chery Malaysia detailed the CSH powertrain tech in full. The firm previously kept mum about the tech when it previewed both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants of the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025).
Having started its development way back in 2001, the tech has since evolved into its very latest fifth-generation iteration. The Chinese automaker adds that the tech has been refined and engineered for global markets – Malaysia included.

At the base of the CSH package is a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol DHE (Dedicated Hybrid Engine) that boasts a 44.5% thermal efficiency rating.

At the base of CSH is a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol Dedicated Hybrid Engine (DHE). This mill achieves an unrivalled thermal efficiency of 44.5%, with Chery touting this to be one of the highest in the industry too.
Paired with said DHE is a high-efficiency electric motor (e-motor), and the automaker further touts that the combined package boasts peak output of 255 kW (approx. 342 HP) plus a rather meaty 525 NM of twist to boot.

The next element in CSH is a Stepless Super Hybrid DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) that Chery touts in having a 98.5% mechanical efficiency rating.

Powertrain aside, the CSH package includes a Stepless Super Hybrid DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) delivering seamless and intelligent energy switching. Chery further touts this transmission boasts a high 98.5% mechanical efficiency rating.
Next comes an 18.3 kWh High-Capacity Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack that, firstly, supports DC fast-charging abilities up to 40 kW. Through which, Chery states 30-80% re-charge cycles in just 20 minutes are possible too.

Central to CSH too is a sizeable 18.3 kWh LFP-type battery pack that can draw in DC fast-charging inputs as high as 40 kW to ebable 30-80% re-charges in just 19 minutes.

Additionally, said LFP battery pack boasts an IP68 certification, making it both dust- and waterproof at a high degree. Adding to which, Chery also touts the pack’s ability to withstand extreme temperatures as high as 95°C.
The CSH package also packs a unique Guardian Battery Safety Protection System that ensures reliable performance through multiple safety layers. This, according to Chery, makes the tech ideal for both urban and long-distance travels.
Altogether, this electrified powertrain package promises a maximum combined travel range of up to 1,200 KM.

CSH also incorporates an Intelligent Energy Management system that seamlessly adapts between electric and hybrid drive modes. This, in turn, also sees the CSH package yield both reduced emissions and maximum fuel savings.
Speaking of the latter, the total CSH package detailed also boasts a maximum combined total range of 1,200 KM.
