Chery Malaysia Pledges RM50,000 to National Sports Trust Fund

Chery Malaysia presented RM50,000 to Youth & Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for the National Sports Trust Fund.
Besides launching the all-new Chery Tiggo Cross SUV last night, Chery Malaysia has also continued its support towards Malaysian athletes by pledging RM50,000 to the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN).
The RM50,000 cheque was presented by Chery Corporate Malaysia vice president Cheng Nam Weng to Youth and Sports Minister (KBS) YB Hannah Yeoh during the Tiggo Cross launch event last night, alongside Chery Malaysia president Leo Chen and Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, chief secretary of KBS.

This donation marks the long-standing partnership between Chery Malaysia and KBS in supporting the development of the national sports industry and local athletes. Among the contributions made by Chery through this partnership are special 50% discounts for Olympics & Paralympics athletes on any Chery vehicles, and many more.
For those who aren’t familiar with KWASN, this grant-based fund is directly under the ministry, where it supports the organisation of national and international-level tournaments as well as athlete participation, either through official sports associations or on an individual basis.

Back to the Tiggo Cross, the local debut of this much-anticipated B-SUV builds upon the strong performance of the Tiggo lineup on the global stage. As of March of this year, the Wuhu-based automaker has exported one million units of the Tiggo Cross (also known as the Tiggo 4 in some markets), marking a major milestone for the model’s global success.

Locally-assembled (CKD) at the Inokom Kulim plant, the Malaysian-spec Tiggo Cross is available in two variants, with prices starting from RM88,800 for the 1.5 Turbo variant and RM99,800 for the top-spec Hybrid CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) variant.
In addition, Chery Malaysia also celebrated the second anniversary of its establishment. Since its inception back in July 2023, the automaker currently operates 58 outlets across the country while having introduced five models, including the Tiggo Cross.

Chery Malaysia vice president Michael Chew (left) hinted that more Chery models will be launched in the second half of 2025.
Beyond these five models, Chery Malaysia vice president Michael Chew said that the company will be launching more new models this year. Although not explicitly mentioned, our guess would be that those two models will be the Tiggo 7 and 8 CSH PHEV, which were previewed earlier this year at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.

Should this be true, then both the Tiggo 7 and 8 PHEVs will be the second and third CSH models to make their Malaysian debut. Both feature Chery’s proprietary 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain setup that promises over 1,200 km of combined travel range and an EV-only range of 100 km.
