Petaling Jaya is gearing up for the 35th edition of the PJ Half Marathon this Sunday (Aug 17), with 8,000 participants expected to take their marks at Laman MBPJ.

Petaling Jaya Deputy Mayor Aznan Hassan said the city is proud to host athletes from 34 countries, noting particularly strong representation from Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Netherlands and India.

“This year, the 30KM open category has surprisingly attracted the largest turnout, with 2,600 entries, more than any other distance. It shows the growing appetite for long-distance events, and gives us confidence to consider a full marathon in the future,” he added.

Preparations will begin tomorrow (Aug 16) at 6PM, with Jalan Yong Shook Lin in front of MBPJ closed until noon on race day. Additional roads will be closed in phases between 4AM and 11AM on Sunday (Aug 17), while rolling closures will take place from 3.30AM to 9AM across several parts of the city to make way for runners.
