- Couple Killed In Ford Mustang Crash Near Segamat
A married couple who owned a jewellery business in Pahang died in a tragic accident on Saturday after their Ford Mustang crashed into an electric pole along Jalan Segamat-Kuantan.
The crash happened around 2pm at Kilometre 13 of the route. The victims, 51-year-old Izzudin Harmaini and his wife, 36-year-old Nur Syamimi Rosli, were pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.
Segamat district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the couple had been driving from Kuantan towards Segamat when the car is believed to have lost control, skidded off the road, and hit a roadside pole.
Fire and rescue personnel from the Segamat station, led by Senior Fire Officer I Abd Rahim Taufik were dispatched to the scene to assist in removing the victims from the wreckage.
“The operation took about 30 minutes and required specialised equipment to extract the bodies,” Ahmad says.
Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health later confirmed the deaths on site. The bodies were then sent to Segamat Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Preliminary investigations suggest that loss of vehicle control may have caused the crash. Authorities are still working to determine the full circumstances.
