- JPJ Collects Over RM100 Million From Flat-Rate Summons Offer
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has raked in more than RM101 million from outstanding summonses since introducing its special flat-rate compound of RM150 earlier this year.
JPJ Deputy Director-General (Planning and Operations) Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi said the offer covered three categories of offences which are the Automated Awareness Safety System (AwAS), Interview Notices (114), and Sticker/JPJ(P)23 Summons Notices (115).
“For AwAS summonses alone, 635,294 notices were issued, bringing in over RM95.3 million. Notice 114 accounted for 35,183 cases worth RM5.29 million, while Notice 115 recorded 8,266 cases with collections of more than RM1.23 million,” he said in a Bernama report.
He further stated that while enforcement remains JPJ’s main duty, its role extends beyond issuing summonses.
“We want to ensure road laws are respected, but just as importantly, we want to instill discipline, safety awareness, and a sense of patriotism among the public,” he added.
