Highways are set to get busy this Merdeka weekend, with PLUS Malaysia predicting up to 2.2 million vehicles a day on August 31 and September 1.

To help ease the drive, PLUS is urging travellers to plan ahead using its improved MyPLUS-TTA feature on the PLUS app.

Once designed mainly for festive rush hours, the tool now gives real-time alerts, faster “Favourite Route” access, and a simpler drop-down route selector, making it easier to navigate peak days outside the festive season.

“Travel patterns during Merdeka are less predictable than during Hari Raya or Chinese New Year, so we’ll continue monitoring and updating traffic advice daily,” PLUS said. image-(2).png
Adding to the patriotic mood, 21 rest stops along the PLUS and LPT2 highways have been decorated with this year’s National Day theme, Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni, while digital boards will flash Merdeka greetings until mid-September.

PLUS is reminding drivers to stay patient, plan smart, and keep safety in mind while celebrating Merdeka on the road.
