Some Malaysians have reported being wrongly flagged as ineligible for the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) subsidy despite holding valid MyKad and driving licences. The Finance Ministry (MOF) says it is working with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to resolve the issue before the scheme launches on Sept 30.

Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said the complaints so far only involved a small number of individuals, but her ministry is taking them seriously. She assured that the technical errors will be resolved quickly and that no eligible Malaysian would be left out.

She also urged members of the public to check their eligibility on the official portal at www.budimadani.gov.my. Anyone facing problems can lodge a complaint online or contact the hotline 1300-88-9595, providing their name, MyKad number and driving licence details for verification.

Lim stressed that all eligible Malaysians are fully entitled to enjoy the subsidy benefits, adding that any delays would only be temporary glitches.

She also called for calm ahead of the launch, saying there was no need to rush. Each approved individual is entitled to 300 litres of subsidised RON95 fuel per month, which can be purchased gradually according to personal needs.

The minister noted that implementation has already begun for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients on Sunday. She said the rollout has gone smoothly nationwide with no complaints reported.

As of 12PM Sept 28 , RM3.7 million worth of RON95 had been purchased under Budi95, involving over 90,000 Armed Forces and Police personnel out of 300,000 eligible, along with 200,000 STR recipients out of more than five million eligible.

Trials have also shown that the system works seamlessly across different payment methods, including the Setel app, cash, and Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

As of Sept 25, a total of 8.1 million people have already checked their eligibility through the official Budi Madani website, reflecting strong public interest in the programme.
