- PRO-NET Launches First DC Charging Hub at Proton Tanjung Malim
PRO-NET’s first DC charging hub has officially opened, located at the Proton Tanjung Malim main admin building.
Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) has further expanded its EV charging network by inaugurating its first DC charging hub at the heart of the Proton City in Tanjung Malim.
Specifically, this new DC charging hub is located at the main administrative building of the Proton City, where it houses two 60 kW DC chargers with four charging bays. Unlike other Proton-branded DC chargers before, this new hub is Proton’s first standalone charging infrastructure, managed by PRO-NET.
Open for use to all EV brands, not just PRO-NET’s, the charging rate starts at RM0.80 per kWh, making it one of the cheapest DC chargers in the nation. In conjunction with its launch, all users can enjoy a 50% discount for the first month of operation, thus bringing down the fee to just RM0.40 per kWh from Oct 1 to 31, 2025.
To activate the charger, users can just scan the QR code and access a web-based interface, without needing to download a separate mobile app. At the same time, Proton e.MAS and smart EV users can access these chargers using both the Proton e.MAS and Hello smart mobile apps, and navigate to them using the on-board charging maps.
“This charging hub is a significant step forward for us, not just as a facility but as part of our commitment to build a stronger EV ecosystem for Malaysia. By keeping the service affordable and simple to use, we hope to make EV adoption more appealing for everyone. Tanjung Malim is where PRO-NET’s story began, so it is fitting for us to also start this new chapter here,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.
With the launch of PRO-NET’s first DC charging hub at Proton City, it solidifies Tanjung Malim’s position as the main component in Proton’s electrification journey, as the national automaker also recently opened its first EV production facility within the same compound.
