Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV CSH Previewed – 1,400 km Range, Launching in 2026
Chery’s flagship PHEV SUV, the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV CSH, is slated to debut in Malaysia later in 2026.
More news from the ongoing Chery International User Summit (CIUS) 2025, this time around coming from the main Chery brand, as the automaker showcases its mid-to-large plug-in hybrid SUV that is bound for Malaysia, the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV CSH.
Positioned as the flagship model for the Tiggo global lineup, the Tiggo 9 PHEV CSH is set to make its Malaysian debut sometime later in 2026, where it will become Chery Malaysia’s fourth Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) model, following the launch of the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7 PHEV, and Tiggo 8 PHEV.
Also known as the Chery Fulwin T9 in native China, the Tiggo 9 PHEV was previously shown at the Auto China 2024 motor show in Beijing. Dimension-wise, this three-row SUV spans 4,795 mm long with a 2,770 mm wheelbase, thus slotting it between the Tiggo 8 and its O&J cousin, the Jaecoo J8.
Given its flagship status among the Tiggo lineup, the Tiggo 9 PHEV gets the poshest cabin out of its siblings, featuring a three-row, 2-3-2 seating layout. Some key tech highlights include a 15.6-inch central infotainment screen, a wireless charger, a floating central console with physical buttons and dials, ambient lights, a 14-speaker Sony audio system, a large panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, and many more.
On the powertrain front, the Tiggo 9 PHEV comes with two specifications, both using the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine rated at 156 PS and 220 Nm found on both the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 PHEV. The less peppy model uses a smaller 18.3-kWh battery pack that powers two electric motors at the front axle to deliver a combined output of 381 PS and 610 Nm, plus 90 km of EV-only range.
Meanwhile, the up-spec model gets a larger 34.4-kWh battery pack plus one extra motor at the rear axle to form an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, delivering a combined output of 619 PS and 920 Nm and a longer EV-only range of 160 km, Chery claims. Despite the different battery capacities, both T9 PHEV variants’ comprehensive travel range is still rated at around 1,400 km.
With the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV currently retailing at RM159,800 and the Jaecoo J8 starting at RM178,800, how much will Chery Malaysia charge for the upcoming Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV CSH?
