Motorists who were charged unsubsidised RON95 prices due to system glitches at petrol stations can apply for a refund, said Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.

She explained that while the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programme has generally run smoothly since its nationwide rollout last Tuesday, a few technical hiccups were reported.

“There were some complaints involving system outages, but they were quickly addressed. For motorists who paid unsubsidised RON95 as a result, the ministry will allow claims to recover the difference,” she said.

Refund applications will open on Oct 9 and will cover purchases made between Sept 30 and Oct 31. Claims must be submitted through mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my together with supporting documents such as fuel receipts. Approved refunds will be credited directly to applicants’ bank accounts within 15 working days.

Businesses must also register under the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS) and show proof of applying for a fleet card by Oct 31 to qualify. Without this, they will not be eligible for the refund.

Fuziah noted that business registration under SKPS has been slow, with only about 25% of eligible companies signing up so far. The ministry is working with taxi groups and other associations to encourage more to register, reminding that subsidies can still be backdated to Oct 1 if valid receipts are provided.
