- Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4Matic Teased For Malaysia, Launches Soon
Second-gen (X254) Mercedes-Benz GLC in initial GLC 300 4Matic CBU form when we tested it prior.

As we’ve speculated earlier this year, it looks like Malaysia is set to be another key market to receive the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4Matic. Said new entry-level variant was teased by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) just this week via its official Facebook page.
Apart from confirming the variant, the teaser (also embedded below) does not disclose when exactly it will launch, though we reckon this will occur soon enough – perhaps as early next week, in fact. Until then, registration of interest (ROI) is now opened online via MBM’s official website.
As a refresher, the second-generation (X254) Mercedes-Benz GLC premium compact crossover SUV arrived locally in GLC 300 4Matic form first as a fully imported (CBU) offering in April 2023 before switching over in Sept 2023 to localised (CKD) units built in Pekan, Pahang.
MBM then wheeled out an electrified GLC 350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid (PHEV) guise a year later in Sept 2024 to succeed which. Despite so, the RM398,888 price tag said PHEV guise commanded meant the second-gen GLC remained out of reach for some.

We’ll also remind you that the previous first-gen (X253) model did see a base-spec GLC 200 guise on offer sans 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD). It was last seen in 2021 when it gained a sportier AMG Line aesthetic treatment priced at RM294,100.
The absence of the GLC 200 guise in this second-gen model's line-up simply stemmed from the three-point star’s global product strategy – initially, there wasn’t one planned. Given strong demands, the marque has promptly adjusted its strategy to sate which.
Australian market GLC 200 4Matic pictured. it launched earlier this year in said market replete with Avantgarde Line trimmings.

Just like what we saw in the Australian market model we reported on earlier this year, the new GLC 200 4Matic variant for Malaysia looks set to harness a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill rated at 201 hp and 320 Nm.
Apart from a 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system, said mill should also come paired with a 9-speed automatic box on top of 4Matic AWD. In turn, this should see 0-100 KM/H sprints despatched in just 7.8 secs besides a claimed fuel economy average of 7.2 litres/100 KM.
Moreover, based on the teaser image published, which shows the upcoming new variant’s signature grille, we can likely expect it to arrive in sporty AMG Line trim too – mirroring the repackaged C200 AMG Line that launched locally not too long ago.
Expect the GLC 200 4Matic for Malaysia to instead adopt the sportier AMG Line aesthetics, and command a more 'accessible' price tag ranging between RM300,00 and RM350,000.

No indicative prices were also hinted, but the GLC 200 4Matic is expected to command a significantly lower price tag versus the GLC 350e 4Matic variant mentioned – between RM300,000 and RM350,000.
What do you folks reckon then? Can MBM recapture new prospects and buyers with this returning base-spec variant? Hit the comments below with your take then…
