No Rush, ChargeSini Extends Idle Grace Period to 30 Minutes

ChargeSini has rolled out an update that extends its idle grace period from 15-mins to 30-mins after a charging session ends. This change means EV users now have up to half an hour to unplug and move their vehicles before idle fees apply.

The company says the idle fee rate remains unchanged at RM1 for every five minutes, and it will still only be triggered once a charging location reaches 50% occupancy. This adjustment gives EV drivers more flexibility, particularly in larger venues such as shopping malls, office complexes, and charging hubs, where it can take longer to return to their vehicles.

According to sources within ChargeSini, the decision was made to better accommodate real-world charging habits. Drivers are often mid-meal, shopping, or navigating long walking distances before they can get back to their car - situations that are even more challenging for elderly users.

The extended grace period aims to make the experience more forgiving without compromising charger availability.

That said, users should take note that idle fees can still apply in certain situations. For instance, if a driver lowers the parking barrier at a charging bay but fails to plug in within the 15-minute plug-in grace period, an idle fee will be imposed.

In addition, ChargeSini locations feature an idle fee cut-off from 12am to 9am, allowing users, especially those in condos, to charge overnight without worrying about moving their cars in the early hours of the morning.

This approach shows ChargeSini’s intent isn’t to penalise users but to promote fair charger access. By discouraging long, unnecessary occupation of charging bays in busy areas, more EV drivers can have the opportunity to charge when needed.

Now operating more than 1,200 charging points nationwide, ChargeSini continues to strengthen its position as one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing EV charging networks, focusing on both accessibility and a smoother user experience.
