Leaked, 2026 Proton X90 MC Brochure Surfaces: 5 Big Changes You Need to Know

Is the Proton X90 finally getting the features it deserves? A leaked brochure for the 2026 X90 MC has surfaced, as paultan.org reported, and it suggests that Proton has been listening closely to consumer feedback.
While the visual changes are minimal, the updates to the powertrain and cabin tech are anything but. If you've been holding out on buying a three-row SUV, these five takeaways from the leak might just change your mind.
1. Goodbye Hybrid, Hello “Proven 4-Cylinder” Power!

The biggest technical shift is under the hood. The leaked specs confirm that the X90 MC will now be powered by the i-GT 1.5TD 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the same 4-cylinder unit found in the updated X50, X70, and S70.
The Output: The 2023 hybrid version produced 190 PS and 300 Nm of torque. The new 2026 non-hybrid unit delivers 181 PS and 290 Nm.
The Shift: While on-paper peak figures are slightly lower, the shift to a pure 4-cylinder engine simplifies the powertrain. For long-term owners, this removes the complexity and potential replacement costs of the 48V battery system at the 5-to-7-year mark—a common concern among Malaysian buyers.
2. Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto (Finally!)

The #1 complaint from Proton owners has finally been addressed. The brochure confirms the new 12.3-inch infotainment head unit now supports Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across the range. No more dongles, no more cables, just seamless connectivity the moment you step in.
3. The "Lite" Variant is a Value King

Proton has streamlined the line-up from four variants in 2023 (Standard, Executive, Premium, Flagship) into three variants: Lite, Prime, and Prime X. The new "Lite" base model doesn't feel "basic" compared to the old "Standard" trim:
- It retains the 12.3-inch IHU with wireless connectivity
- It comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels and multi-link rear suspension for superior ride comfort
- Standardized Safety: Six airbags and leatherette seats are included from the start
4. Safety Tech Gets "Transparent"
The mid-spec Prime variant (the indirect successor to the Executive/Premium trims) adds a massive safety boost.
The Tech: It features a 360-degree camera suite with a 180-degree transparent view. This "see-through" tech is a major upgrade over the 2023 model's standard 360-degree camera, making it easier to navigate tight mall parking spots.
Digital Displays: The Prime variant also introduces the 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which was previously reserved for the Executive variant and above in 2023
5. The "Prime X" Executive Experience

The range-topping Prime X keeps its status as the ultimate family cruiser, replacing the old "Flagship" variant.
Seating: It retains the popular 6-seater configuration with second-row Captain Seats
New Comfort Features: Unlike the 2023 model which only had ventilation for the front and second rows on specific trims, the Prime X explicitly highlights ventilated seats for both first and second rows, a "Boss Switch" for the front passenger seat, and ergonomic headrests
Security: A built-in Front DVR (Dashcam) is now included

Consumer Outlook: Should You Wait?
By switching to the i-GT 1.5TD 4-cylinder engine, the X90 MC becomes a more predictable long-term asset. Removing the 48V system reduces the risk of high-cost component failures later in the car's life, which was a point of contention for potential buyers in 2023.
The X90 MC is expected to launch officially very soon in five colors: Quartz Black, Marine Blue, Armour Silver, Snow White, and Jet Grey.
ROI Are Now Open
