GWM Malaysia Eyes Top 10 Spot by 2028: 6 New Models to Launch, Led by Tank 300 HEV

GWM Malaysia is accelerating its growth with a newly unveiled strategic roadmap for 2026–2028. Announced during its annual Media Appreciation Night, the automaker aims to become one of the Top 3 Chinese automotive brands and a Top 10 brand overall in Malaysia by 2028.
This ambition is supported by an aggressive product assault involving the launch of six new SUVs over the next two years, led by the rugged GWM Tank 300 HEV.
The 2028 Vision: 60,000 Units and 6% Market Share

GWM Malaysia’s roadmap focuses on long-term brand building and sustainable growth rather than short-term price competition. Following a strong 2025, where the brand achieved 5,876 sales and a 177% year-on-year growth, the company has set the following targets:
- Annual Sales Volume: 60,000 units per year.
- Market Share: 6% of Malaysia’s Total Industry Volume (TIV).
- Network Expansion: A nationwide footprint of 60 dealer outlets.
- Regional Hub: Positioning Malaysia as a critical ASEAN growth and export hub.
The Star of the Show: GWM Tank 300 HEV

The Tank 300 HEV is the first of the new SUVs slated for a "soon" launch. It pairs rugged off-road capability with an advanced hybrid powertrain that significantly outperforms GWM's standard petrol engines.

The Product Pipeline: 6 Upcoming Models

Following the Tank 300 HEV, GWM plans to introduce five more models through 2027. Based on regional trends, industry observers expect:
- Two B-segment SUVs: Likely the ORA 5 (available in EV and HEV forms).
- Two C-segment SUVs: Speculation points toward the Haval Raptor (Menglong) and the plug-in hybrid Haval H6 Hi4.
- One Luxury C-SUV: Widely expected to be the WEY 03 (formerly WEY Latte), a premium PHEV designed to rival European luxury brands.
A Technology-Led Strategy
GGWM Malaysia is moving beyond just selling cars by focusing on smarter technology and better service.
"The growth we achieved in 2025 shows that we are building something meaningful and that we are on the right path," said Roslan Abdullah, COO of GWM Malaysia.
The brand’s strategy rests on four key pillars:
- Smarter Hybrid Tech: Future models will feature the Hi4 Intelligent Hybrid System. First seen in the premium WEY G9, this tech delivers more power with less fuel, making high-performance driving more efficient.
- Reliable Spare Parts: To eliminate long repair waits, the GWM Care system commits to a 95% nationwide parts fulfillment rate, ensuring essential components are almost always in stock.
- Local Commitment: Continued investment in local assembly (CKD) helps keep prices competitive and ensures technical teams have deep, hands-on expertise with every vehicle.
- Elevated Service: GWM is upgrading its network of 60 planned dealerships to a new, premium standard, providing a consistent and professional experience for every customer.
