Besides announcing a special new and blacked-out variant of the GWM Tank 500 HEV 4x4 SUV, GWM Malaysia also confirmed the launch date for its highly anticipated and refreshed 2025 GWM Ora Good Cat and Good Cat GT EV hatches.
In the same press release issued earlier today, the firm outlined Nov 6 as the official launch date for both models. As a refresher, GWM Malaysia have opened up early bookings for both models earlier this month with tentative price tags of RM115,000 (Good Cat) and RM125,000 (Good Cat GT).
Loyal followers will remember that GWM Malaysia initially confirmed plans to introduce the Ora Good Cat GT back in April this year.

Prior to which, the firm announced this plan back in April this year. We’ll even add that the Ora Good Cat GT made a surprise yet welcoming appearance during this year’s Merdeka Day parade where it ‘marched’ as part of MITI’s EV convoy for which.
First launched back in Nov 2022, the GWM Ora Good Cat EV hatch has garnered much fanfare from many avid Malaysian EV enthusiasts and buyers. As we found out first-hand, the appeal goes beyond ‘cute’ looks when we took one on test and took it u to Genting Highlands and back not too long ago.
As a refresher, the GWM Ora Good Cat was previously offered across two variants – 400 Pro and 500 Ultra. At launch, they were tagged at RM139,800 and RM169,800 respectively.

As detailed prior, the biggest change this year will be the inclusion of the peppier and sportier new ‘GT’ guise. This variant is set to pack a brand new SVLOT-sourced 57.7 kWh LFP-type battery pack that promises to yield up to 460 KM (NEDC) range. It will also accept both 6.6 kW AC and up to 60 kW DC charging inputs.
Critically, the new GT guise promises enhanced performance too thanks to a peppier front-mounted e-motor unit outputting 168 hp and 250 Nm to the front wheels. In contrast, the regular Ora Good Cat variant should still offer the same 141 hp and 210 Nm outputs as the current version, but yield longer 480 KM (NEDC) range from the shared new battery pack.

In GT form, the Ora Good Cat rocks a sportier and sharper styling, and it also gains a peppier powertrain to match.

On board, both the refreshed Good Cat and new Good Car GT variants will be brimmed with a 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen, leatherette upholstery, Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera view, as well as critical Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and My GWM app connectivity functions.
Visually, the GT will gain several striking additions to give it a sportier stance. Highlights include sportier bumper designs, a rear spoiler added, GT-exclusive alloy wheels, not forgetting GT sports seats on board, plus striking yellow highlight accents both inside and out.
Official teasers published by GWM Malaysia via its official FB page. Both the refreshed Ora Good Cat and new Ora Good Cat GT are now opened for bookings at tentative prices of RM115,000 and RM125,000 respectively.

What remains unclear still though is if GWM Malaysia plans to locally assembly (CKD) both the GWM Ora Good Cat and Good Cat GT, considering tax incentives for fully imported (CBU) EVs from the government expires this year on Dec 31.
However, considering that contract assembly partners EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) is now geared up to CKD EVs, we won’t discount this possibility just yet. We’ll have more once both models officially launch in less than a week’s time…
