Volkswagen Polo

The Volkswagen Polo Hatchback is the most compact model in Volkswagen Group Malaysia's line up. It is one of the most amazing creations from Volkswagen which can clearly be seen from the way the interiors and exteriors are designed.

The latest Polo comes in only one variant, the Polo 1.6L Comfortline and it is priced at RM74,801. However, Volkswagen also offers a special edition option of the Polo dubbed 1.6L Comfortline Join, which gets some minor upgrades in the exterior and interior department all at a price of RM 81,061. 

The design is simple and sleek. It gets an all-black layout with silver trims across the dashboard as a finishing touch.

Made up of simple-looking backlit analogue dials and a monochrome (MID) unit that is clear with its all-black layout and white luminescent lighting. 

The seats are finished in full black Livon fabric. Paired with manual Height adjustable function for the driver. 

Front occupants have no issues with space. As the Polo 1.6L Comfortline offers ample front cabin room. However, the rear cabin feels a little cramped, especially the leg room.  

It has a decent size glove compartment that can fit your tablets along with a centre console storage box that can fit smaller devices. It also has practical storage compartments in the front and rear door panels. 

There are only two cup holders located at the lower part of the centre console right next to the 12-volt power socket and it has 2 bottle holders at the side panels of the front doors. 

The Polo 1.6L Comfortline gets one 12-volt power socket and one USB port, both located in the front.

With 280 litres of boot space, it can easily fit multiple sports equipment and a medium-sized cooler box. 

The measurements are 3,970 mm length, 1,682 mm width, 1,453 mm height, weighs 1,020 kg and with a wheelbase spanning 2,470 mm.

The Polo 1.6L Comfortline exudes a clean and sleek front exterior with its slim grille that has the Volkswagen badge in the middle. Paired with a wide sporty air vent, positioned on the lower bumper stretched all the way from left to right and the chrome trim on the bumper underlines its sporty and stylish appearance.  

The rear of the car exhibits a minimalist design paired with slim and slit-like rear fog lights located on each side at the bottom of the bumper. The sleek line flowing in the middle of the boot lid towards the bottom fits well with the layout and the small roof edge spoiler gives the rear a sporty finishing touch. 

The headlamps are halogen, reflector type units, which are in a square-like shape that suits well with the Polo’s 1.6L Comfortline overall body design. 

The tail lamps are fitted with standard light bulbs. The large block-shaped design of the tail lamps mixes well with the whole minimalist rear outlook and matches the front as well.  

It is power adjusted and power folded. 

Equipped with the metallic silver 7 spokes 15-inch alloy wheels.

The Polo 1.6L Comfortline gets Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), a Cruise control system with a speed limiter and an electronic anti-theft immobiliser. 

Passive safety includes 2 airbags one each for the driver and passenger, ISOFIX, 3-point seat belts for rear occupants with pre-tensioners, anti-pinch windows for all 4 doors and 4 rear parking sensors.  

The Cruise control system makes long journeys safer and more comfortable by regulating the speed and particularly effective to stay within speed limits for long journeys. 

Features a 6.5-inch touchscreen radio system with smartphone connectivity that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has Bluetooth interface function, AUX, USB and SD card slot.  

The 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated 4-Cylinder 16 Valve DOHC engine produces 105 hp of max power at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of max torque at 3,800 rpm.

Featuring a 6-speed automatic transmission. 

Power is sent to its front wheels.

The Polo 1.6L Comfortline can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 11.1 seconds while reaching top speeds of up to 184 km/h.

It has a fuel consumption figure of 6.3L for every 100 km. 

It has a Climatronic automatic air-conditioning system, height-adjustable driver seat, key remote to open the trunk lid, remote key for opening and closing of windows, Speed sensitive electronic power steering, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and height-adjustable headlights.

The seats are comfortable and the ride is smooth. 

It has a good sound insulation, with its road noise mostly muted.
