Wow! Perodua Records Up To 20,399 Vehicle Sales Just In April 2021!
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has sold around 20,399 unit vehicles in April where the heavily awaited Ativa made up of 4,624 units (22 percent) that brings the total units of Ativas sold to almost 9,000 units since its launch.

Bookings for the model are still at high demand with the average bookings of up to 290 per day.
“We thank all Malaysians for their strong support,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
“The waiting period for the Ativa is currently between two and four months, depending on the desired colour and variant. We advise our valued customers to speak to our authorised sales advisors for accurate and up-to-date delivery times of the various variant-colour combinations of the Ativa,” he mentioned.

However, the company sales dipped by 16.5 percent, from 24,431 units to 20,399 units, compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the semiconductor shortage that has had an impact on multiple industries globally.
“Despite the global semiconductor chip shortage, Perodua managed to produce 20,278 vehicles in April 2021, pushing our year-to-date production to 80,661 units,” Zainal said.

Next to that, the company’s year-to-date sales tally up to April 2021 comes up to 78,304 vehicles. This includes a 74 percent increase as compared to the 45,034 units sold in the first four months last year.
“The chip shortage is our top priority at present and we are deploying all our resources to deal with it, including working closely with the government and our business partners for viable solutions.

“Perodua remains committed towards timely deliveries, aided by our economies of scale. We thank our valued customers very much for their patience. We are doing all we can to deliver as many cars as possible before the expected expiry of the government’s sales tax exemption in end-June,” he added.

Zainal mentioned that the company will be maintaining its 2021 sales target at 240,000 units at the moment. Perodua has recorded a 9 percent increase in their sales target last year from the 220,163 units sold in 2020. The company is also expected to bring a record purchase of RM6.5 billion worth of locally-sourced components in 2021.
Not only that, Perodua aims to produce 272,000 units (+23 percent from 2020’s 220,968 units), as well as a 2.4 million service intake (+20 percent from 2020’s 2 million service intakes) this year.
