Lamborghini Aventador, The Raging Bull’s V12 Historical Masterpiece
Born out of a continuous pursuit for perfection and has now become part of our collective imagination, the Lamborghini Aventador’s decade long iconic reign.
Debuted in 2011, it came in the coupe version as Aventador LP 700-4, and the bull’s V12 heart was designed and masterfully enhanced since 1963, the year the company was instituted.
Its carbon fibre monocoque was a first in Lamborghini supercars, and it established Lamborghini’s leadership in the production and development of composite materials.
Making the Sant’Agata Bolognese car maker the first company to produce essential carbon fibre elements in-house and in a huge number.
Furthermore, the Raging Bull’s 12-cylinder mill is the best-selling V12 in Lamborghini’s history. Meaning, more Aventadors have been sold than the total sum of all V12 models of the past.
Notably, in September 2020, the company set the record of 10,000 cars sold when the total number of all its predecessor models just topped the 7,000 threshold.
Having exceeded all sales of the previous model, in particular the Murcielago was already in its 5th production year.
Besides that, just like the superstars of Hollywood, this supercar also had its limelight on the walk of fame.
The Aventador became the supercar equivalent of excellence, as the V12 has co-starred in several movies that made Italian and world cinema history.
In fact, it is one of the most important models of the Lamborghini 12-cylinder range since it was cemented in the collective minds as the ‘BatMobile’.
Specifically, in 2012, the Aventador LP 700-4 was seen carrying the license plate ‘Gotham - 649 8227’, driven by Bruce Wayne in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
However, it was not the first time that this cult classic Bat franchise chose Lamborghini as the car representing its star.
For instance, in part two of the series ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008), a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 was used, while in the first movie ‘Batman Begins’ (2005), the hero drove a Murcielago Roadster.
Interestingly, the Aventador is also the first Lamborghini to adopt the customisable driving mode and rear-steering wheels in which Lamborghini applied the MagneRide adaptive suspension.
Resulting with a behaviour of all its technological contents that can be managed using the driving mode selector that offers four possible variants, STRADA, SPORT, CORSA and the new EGO mode.
To illustrate the latter, the new EGO mode allows the three main areas of the car to be independently set.
Such as the powertrain, the steering that has the Lamborghini Dynamic Steering, Lamborghini Rear-wheel Steering and Servotronic, and the suspension, known as the magneto-rheological suspension.
Accordingly, for these three areas, the drivers can choose between ‘STRADA’, ‘SPORT’ and ‘CORSA’ as the preferred set-up to create an individual mode by altering the nature of the Aventador.
Now comes the latest milestone, the Raging Bull’s Ultimae. Presented recently in 2021, this latest version of the Aventador is dubbed the Ultimae LP 780-4.
Parading timeless design and technical solutions that come together in the highest expression, it leads the next generation of super sports cars into the hybrid technology era.
Exterior livery of the limited-edition Ultimae is hand-made by Lamborghini craftsmen, spending more than 40 hours of painstaking diligence to create an authentic masterpiece.
Comparably, the interior embellished by ultralight materials is akin to the carbon fibre also found on the exterior.
At the same time, it features Alcantara upholsteries that is processed based on a special laser cutting with the small Y motif decked across the entire passenger compartment.
Completing the set-up is a carbon fibre plate dedicated to the limited edition of only 350 units that unequivocally expresses the rarity and value of this latest Lamborghini execution.
The Ultimae’s longitudinal rear aspirated 780 hp V12 engine features cylinders fixed at a 60-degree angle, resulting in the V12 screaming with a perfectly harmonious sound.
Clearly, the Lamborghini Aventador is living up to its history, making its V12 ancestors proud, and it is truly the dream car of all dream cars.
