LX "OFFROAD" - New Customized Model From JAOS And Lexus
JAOS Corporation, in collaboration with Lexus, presented a new customised LX "OFFROAD" model, dubbed the LX 600 “OFFROAD” JAOS version, at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 last month.
Holding firmly to its commitment to offer its customers a diverse range of products. LEXUS customised the new LX, combining the exclusive LX “OFFROAD” version’s exterior design to meet its customers’ needs for a car with a higher level of refinement while maintaining its time-tested reliability, durability and off-road driving performance.
Like the Toyota version, the LX 600 is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. With a more modern engine and a new 10-speed DirectShift automatic transmission, this model is supposed to be ‘fuel economical’ than before.
The exterior uses lightweight, high rigidity infusion-moulded CFRP parts for the front and rear bumper skid protectors and the over fenders. The car also features specially developed 20-inch ENKEI made wheels forged by “TEAM JAOS”.
The front suspension is a double-wishbone configuration, while the rear suspension is a ported-over four-link setup from the LX 570. One thing Lexus changed was the location of the rear shocks. They were shifted to the outside of the rear control arms, allowing them to better follow the movement of the wheels, resulting in improved vibration reduction and comfort.
The LX 600 has a few more tricks up its sleeve. One of these is an Active Height Control system, which changes the vehicle's ride height continuously, something we appreciated on the old LX. It can adjust itself faster this time than before, which is excellent. It still offers three manual driving height modes: Normal, Hi1, and Hi2, as well as a reduced option that makes it easier for passengers to get in and out. Depending on which drive mode you're in and how fast you're going, the system adjusts your height.
