First ever BMW Motorrad GS Challenge 2022 concludes in Putrajaya

BMW Group Malaysia saw its two-wheeled division, BMW Motorrad Malaysia, successfully host its first ever BMW Motorrad GS Challenge event last weekend. Held in Putrajaya, the event is a unique off-road and enduro riding challenge inspired by the brand’s very own International GS Trophy.

Over 150 participants took part in the gruelling two-day event that took place last weekend on Aug 6 and 7 in Putrajaya. It saw participants testing on their riding and navigation skills as well as individual challenges across off-roading obstacles.
At the core of this challenge is, of course, the premium motorcycle marque's benchmark-setting and highly capable GS range of dual-sport adventure bikes. Included in this challenge were the likes of the G310 GS, F850 GS and F850 GS Adventure, as well as the flagship R1250 GS and R1250 GS Adventure.
During the challenge, participants were vying to become chosen finalists to compete on Day 2 to win an exclusive opportunity to participate in the “Follow the Trails” (FTT) Tour of the International BMW GS Trophy in Albania that’s scheduled for October this year. The FTT offers riders the opportunity to experience the thrilling route the competitors need to get across at the International BMW GS Trophy 2022 competition.

After two days of intense competition, the challenge saw four finalists emerging as winners of the BMW Motorrad GS Challenge. Making their way to Albania for the exclusive FTT Tour later this year are Muhairi bin Muhammad, Rosmadi bin Saad, Niranjan a/l Visuvalingam, and lady competitor Elis Suriani Binti Johari.
“I believe our participants enjoyed the riding fun, adventure and challenges – all of which are what a GS motorbike was made for,” said Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia regarding the event which also saw participants camping out overnight near the challenge course in Putrajaya. Other highlights of the event included a unique bonfire-lit dining experience plus live stage music performances.
