You can now drive the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 in a video game
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 has made its video game debut. Said limited-run and retro-inspired hypercar is now available for players on the widely successful driving video game title Asphalt 9:Legends developed by Gameloft.
The game, which has been downloaded over a billion times or so, already features a roster of other Lamborghini unobtanium, namely the Terzo Millennio and Essenza SCV12.
Additionally, developers Gameloft states that the Countach will star in its very own in-game competition series as well.It features two elimination rounds, with the first one starting Aug 1. The fastest players here will then compete in the Grand Finals, which sees double-elimination races slated for Sept 14. This will then determine who races in the iOS Final, all of which Lamborghini will stream on its social media channels.
Basically, this in-game competition celebrates said retro-inspired hypercar’s arrival by seeing who can tame its beastly performance best, albeit virtually.
To refresh your memory, the real-life version of the AWD Countach special harnesses House Sant’Agata’s manic 6.5-litre V12, plus a 48-volt electric motor and supercapacitor tech, that outputs 804 HP. This, in turn, sees said hypercar capable of despatching 0-100 KM/H in just 2.8 secs, 0-200 KM/H in 8.6 secs, and hit a claimed V-max of 355 KM/H.
Just 112 units of the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 have been constructed, with all being spoken for shortly before its official launch last year too. Each reportedly commanded a €2 million (approx. RM9.14 million) price tag with taxes when it was sold in Europe.
Given it’s scarcity and perhaps near-impossibility to acquire, this is perhaps the closest any of us mere mortals will ever get to driving one, let alone own one…
