2024 VOLVO EX90 SUV

Volvo has unveiled its trendy electric model, the EX90 SUV which eventually might be replacing the latest XC90 three-row gasoline-powered in the market.

Upon its mission to build an all-electric line up, the company has confirmed its debut will take place on November 9 featuring 2024 Volvo EX90 new and advanced safety suite of technology equipped both inside and outside of the SUV.

The new Volvo EX90 also comes with an advanced suite of eight cameras, five radar units, 16 ultrasonic sensors, and a forward-facing LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) device on top of a feature that constantly scans the vehicle's environment creating what Volvo calls an "invisible" 360-degree shield of safety, with the LiDAR system mounted on the roof above the windshield in an equipment pod allows to generate a 3D map of the route ahead of the vehicle.

Volvo claims the newly integrated advanced system will be able to detect difficult-to-see objects, such as a black tyre on a dark road at night, up to 120 metres in advance and its new LiDAR and sensor suite will eventually become standard on all its vehicles.

Inside the EX90, there's also new technology which includes two new cameras facing the driver for Volvo's "Driver Understanding" monitoring system.

The two cameras monitor the driver's face and eyes for signs of distraction, drowsiness, or other inattentiveness, and the vehicle will begin to warn the driver and occupants to pay attention to the road ahead after a short period of time.

According to Volvo, it has a dual-camera setup not for stereoscope vision or anything else, but because engineers discovered that the driver's hand or arm frequently blocked a single camera mounted behind the steering wheel, so they added a second off to the side.

Moving on the styling, 2024 Volvo EX90 is based on the Concept Recharge show car, which means it will be sleeker than the XC90 while retaining iconic Volvo styling elements like Thor's Hammer LED headlamps and vertically oriented tail lights.

Pricing and trim levels have yet to be announced as well as the EX90's powertrain, battery capacity, and driving range. However, we anticipate that the electric EX90 will cost more than the gasoline powered XC90 SUV.

Volvo has recently limited its trim level offerings, and as speculated the EX90 will follow suit, with a base Core trim, a mid-range Plus variant, and a loaded Ultimate model.
