Hyundai Staria 10-seater set for Q4 launch, bookings now open
Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is set to welcome the 10-seater variant of the Hyundai Staria MPV very soon. In a press statement issued today, the firm confirmed that orders for said variant are now open ahead of its planned launch, the latter set to take place sometime in the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year.
“We have been getting enquiries for the 10-seater variant as there has been anticipation that the 10-seater variant will replace the Starex. Like the Starex, this 10-seater variant is ideal for big families, tour operators and businesses but with vast improvements and more functionalities in every aspect of the vehicle as compared to the Starex,” said Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM.
Unlike the 7-seater variant HSDM currently offers, which is positioned as a luxurious offering to rival against things like the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire luxo-MPVs, this upcoming 10-seater variant will offer four-row seating for 10 persons instead across a 2-3-2-3 layout. It’ll also likely lose out on a number of the premium amenities and features as seen in its 7-seater sibling.
What remains though is its rather sharp and futuristic styling, albeit with a few minor changes. Highlights of this distinct design effort include its streamlined silhouette, its unmistakable horizontal LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and position lamps, as well as its uniquely bold and wide front grille.
Three variants will be available, those being the Lite, Plus and Max, whereas its estimated pricing will start from RM170,000 onwards. All variants will harness the same 2.2-litre turbo-diesel 4-cyl mill and 8-speed automatic box powertrain package, the former offering 177 PS and 431 Nm. Bookings can now be placed through authorised Hyundai dealers at a fee of RM1,000.
