Porsche IPO: 911 million shares worth US$80 billion set to be listed

As previously reported, German sportscar marque Porsche is set to publicly list itself in the German stock exchange soon. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) for which will see the brand put up 25% of its stake to trade publicly, and now more details for which have surfaced.

As a homage to perhaps its most signature and staple sportscar model the 911, the IPO will reportedly see 911 million shares being offered up for trading. Citing insider sources, newswire Reuters even reports that these shares are worth between US$70 billion and US$80 billion (approx. RM318.5 billion and RM364 billion at current exchange rates).

Of the 911 million shares set to trade in this IPO, only half of them will reportedly find themselves on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Porsche SE, a dedicated holding company for investments, intends to buy 25% of the available stock, thus leaving the remaining 25% of the automaker available to investors.

Announced earlier this month, Porsche believes that this IPO would “open up a new chapter for us with increased independence as one of the world's most successful sports car manufacturers," according to its chairman Oliver Blume.

Again, as reported, Porsche intends for these stocks to have a dividend payout ratio of 50%. Said figure also refers to the dividends paid to shareholders in relation to a company's net income.

With big investments planned towards achieving its goal of having over 80% of its vehicle delivered in 2030 being fully electric, this IPO will play a key role towards that too. We can expect things such as the all-electric Macan, a new electric Panamera, the second-gen Taycan, as well as a new flagship electric SUV to slot above the Cayenne to come in this time frame.
