Apple iPhone 14 Crash Detection App Calls Police In A Deadly Crash

The new Apple iPhone 14’s emergency alert service was put into test unfortunately last Sunday when a car crashed into a tree in Lincoln, Nebraska which claimed six lives. Five onboard the Honda Accord died on the spot while a 24 year old passenger died shortly later in a nearby hospital.  

According to the police, the cause of the accident is yet to be determined and alcohol was not ruled out. They further added that they were alerted of the crash when the iPhone’s crash detection app was unable to get a response from the user. The iPhone 14 uses an all new sensor with precise G-force accelerometer that is able to detect when its user is involved in an accident be it a side-impact, rear-end collision or even a rollover. This feature is only activated when the phone detects the user is travelling in a vehicle. 

Lincoln’s assistant chief of police, Mikon Morrow goes on to add that this is the worst crash the town has seen in recent history and some time is needed to determine the exact cause. All possibilities are being looked at including alcohol, speeding or distracted driving. Police are seeking help from any eyewitness who can help the investigation.
