Maserati Teases Its New Convertible, The GranCabrio Prototype

Maserati has taken the upcoming GranCabrio out on the streets of Modena, Italy, for some development testing ahead of its launch in 2023.

Though, not much details were divulged by the Trident, except for some teaser images of its new fully-electric prototype cloaked in camo.

To begin with, the Maserati GranCabrio is the convertible version of the recently launched GranTurismo coupe. 

Design-wise, the convertible portrays certain similar styling as to the coupe, but parades it in its own distinct way.

Sportily, up front, it can be seen with an oval-shaped trident adorned grille, and vertically-oriented trapezoidal openings on the sides.

It also adopts the fenders that rise above the hood, which forms a curvy silhouette with lines that flow and arches from the front to the back.

Then, in part to the drop top design, the GranCabrio features a different rear styling, as the deck is flatter to make room for stowing the roof.

Other than that, it gets a pair of polished, somewhat chromed-out twin-exhaust pipes coming out of each side of the rear bumper. 

Under the hood, the GranCabrio is anticipated to harbour a heart akin to the GranTurismo, which is Maserati's Nettuno twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6.

This setup with its all-wheel-drive system generates 489 Hp/365-kW and 600 Nm of torque in the Modena guise, whereas in the Trofeo, 550 Hp/40-kW and 650 Nm of torque. 

That said, a part of the Folgore BEV range, these new models are the brand’s first builds to adopt a 100% electric solution, of which, each car in the range will be fully-electric by 2030.
