BYD's Yangwang R1 Luxury SUV Estimated To Cost RM922,000
-full_normal.jpg)
BYD the Chinese automotive giant is now gunning for the Mercedes Benz G-Class segment with the upcoming introduction of the Yangwang R1. According to CarNewsChina (CNC) the Yangwang R1 would be powered by up to 4 electric motors.
According to CNC, the spy shots you see here are actually not spied per-say as it was images furnished by BYD China. Yangwang would be the premium brand under the umbrella of the BYD automotive portfolio, where the word Yangwang basically translates to “look-up”. The Yangwang R1 according to BYD would hit showrooms by the mid 2023.

The estimated retails price for the R1, a cool RM492,000 to RM922,000. Now if those numbers don’t scream premium, we wouldn't know what will.
From the images shared by BYD, set amongst the the most obvious places an ultra luxurious SUV would not go but would be able to should you choose too, we are able to study the basic exterior features which we admit does look good.

The Yangwang R1 features an extensive boxy outlook more similar to the Land Rover and Haval Cool Dog lines instead of the Mercedes G-Class it is gunning to go against. It features a good amount of ground clearance and very short overhangs both front and rear. Up on top, it's got the signature Land Rover thick pillars, wide wheel arches and rear view mirror housing.
Now with this being an EV, the other details we are pretty sure would be the defining features of the R1 setting it apart from the big guns it is setting its sights for. From the images supplied, we are able to make out a pair of small running lights on top of the front end reminding us of the Lynk & Co 09. Beneath the running lights we are able to see a pair of high beam lights. Up on the roof are three bulges which according to some sources will house lights and LiDAR sensors. The other minor details that we are able to pick up are the retractable door handles making for a flushed and premium outlook.
