Malaysia is on schedule to construct 10,000 EV chargers by 2025, now set with 700 units

According to the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030, the Government's goal to establish up to 10,000 public charging stations for electric cars (EVs) in Malaysia by 2025 is on track, and as of now, about 700 charging stations have been installed nationally.
However, there were several electric vehicle (EV) owners who complained about the lack of EV charging stations in Malaysia.
This issue was exacerbated when issues arose when EV owners wished to travel long distances, but the number of pulse EV charging stations is still limited, with only 1,000 units built in urban areas so far.
As of now, the government has granted tax breaks, such as pioneer status, as well as financial help to enterprises interested in building EV infrastructure in the country.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) predicts that by 2030, the EV market will have grown to 18,000 charging sites for 524,409 battery EVs on the road, with an annual electricity revenue of RM1.25 billion, according to Bernama.
This amounts to a possible decrease in CO2 emissions of 4.4 million tonnes by removing an equivalent number of internal combustion engines from the road.
