Staying True To His Word, Anwar Refuses New Mercedes As Official Transport

In a recent posting on our 10th Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Facebook page, he is seen shunning the usage of a recently acquired Mercedes S600 by the Prime Minister's department.
According to Datuk Seri Anwar, the vehicle was acquired before his appointment into the Prime Minister's office. He added that he would prefer to use any currently available vehicles in view of cutting unnecessary expenditures by all departments.
In his words, "I would like to inform you that yesterday, I refused to use a Mercedes S600 vehicle that was purchased and obtained by the Prime Minister's Department before I came into office”.

Datuk Seri Anwar, was sworn into office after a meeting of the rulers by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the Istana Negara on Thursday 24th November after no political party managed to garner a simple majority followed by no consensus of coalition by any parties resulting in a dead-lock.
However, based on a quick search, we would assume, Datuk Seri Anwar was presented with either the latest Mercedes Benz S580e or the Mercedes Maybach S580e which are the two models offered by Mercedes Benz Malaysia. However there is an option not available locally but we assume a custom order is warranted for the Mercedes Maybach S680 which is powered by a 6-litre V12 power plant.
No matter what, our hats off to Datuk Seri Anwar for staying true to his words in cutting down unnecessary expenditures, hope the Prime Minister's department won’t incur a big loss should the Mercedes be returned.
By the way, Datuk Seri Anwar looks more in place in his BMW 7-Series if we might add.
