MBM Teases New Mercedes-AMG S63, Face-lifted GLS And Maybach GLS Models

MBM teased a trio of new models via Facebook late yesterday.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) took to social media late yesterday and teased a trio of upcoming new models that are set to launch locally next month (April). MBM didn’t name these trio outright in their teaser, only showing a glimpse of their rear ends.
Nevertheless, the caption accompanying these images indicates them being on the higher end side of things. The same caption also notes that all three models will be available for viewing first at the Mercedes-Benz Showroom in Bangsar from April 3 to April 7.
We took a closer look at all three teaser images and can confidently tell you what these trio of new cars are. They are the new W223-generation Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, as well as the recently face-lifted third-generation (X167) Mercedes-Benz GLS and Mercedes-Maybach GLS duo.
We’ve detailed the performance-tuned variant of the latest seventh-gen S-Class flagship limo when it globally debuted in late 2022 and again in Editon 1 trim last April. Unlike the new W206-gen C63 S E Performance, this flagship limo packs a more desirable V8 twin-turbo plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup.

This performance flagship variant of the W223 S-Class packs a super-PHEV twin-turbo V8 heart - the same as the AMG GT 63 S E Performance model.
Headlining figures for this AMG-tuned S-Class sees its 4.0-litre mill outputting no less than 791 HP and 1,430 NM of gravity-defying torque, the latter thanks to the peppy e-motor and 13.1 kWh battery pack it’s also augmented with. Altogether, this limo will despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 3.3 seconds.
Get to know the new W223-gen S63 E Performance through our in-depth initial reports of which by clicking here and here. Given its status as a performance flagship, you can expect it command a much higher figure than the locally-assembled V223-gen S580e model that’s tagged from RM718,888.

Face-lifted 2024MY (X167) Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury SUV in GLS 450 4Matic (left) and Maybach GLS 600 4Matic (right) forms.
As for the GLS flagship luxury SUVs duo, the face-lifted versions of the new GLS 450 4Matic and Maybach GLS 600 4Matic are expected. Both are expected to replace the pre-facelift versions previously offered locally by MBM.
For the GLS 450 4Matic, this variant is expected to feature a 3.0-litre straight 6-cyl turbo mild-hybrid (MHEV) mill outputting 483 HP and 500 NM. It’s ultra-lux Maybach GLS 600 4Matic twin is also expected to continue with a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo MHEV mill that outputs 550 HP and 730 NM.

Both the GLS 450 4matic and Maybach GLS 600 4Matic received styling tweaks inside and out, the latter matched with new digital displays too.
In their latest 2024 model year guises that debuted early last year, both the GLS 450 and Maybach GLS 600 received slight exterior restyling, evident through its revised front bumper and air intakes, new taillights, as well as newly added paintjob options.
This 2024MY refresh also sees the GLS gaining new digital displays on board, along with a slew of new upholstery options. Speaking of the later, the Maybach version also now sees cabin ambient lighting suite offered as standard, along with perforated diamond-quilted upholstery.

All three models will be shown first at the Mercedes-Benz Bangsar showroom from April 3 to April 7.
Given how MBM has priced their updated fully imported (CBU) models of late, we can perhaps expect both the refreshed GLS 450 4Matic and Maybach GLS 600 4Matic duo to experience a price hike. For reference, these retailed from RM899,888 and RM1,789,453 respectively at launch.
We’ll have more details on all three as soon as they’re made available. So, which of these three tickles your fancy most? As usual, share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
