Thais Physically Queue A Day Before To Be Amongst The First To Buy The BYD Atto 3

You could have mistaken these long queues for the launch of maybe the latest iPhone or even a new pair of limited edition Nikes. But no you would be wrong, these queues are for the new BYD Atto 3 in Thailand!
As reported by Blink Drive, this is the first time in Thailand people are going crazy over being the first to own the new Atto 3 from the Chinese brand BYD. The car was set to be launched and start being handed over from the 1st November, however “fans” had begun queuing up as early as 8pm October 31st.

One buyer Mr. Panithan, had to fly from his home-state of Chiang Rai to Bangkok which is around 800KM to secure his Atto 3. The reason he had to travel is because the BYD Showroom in his local state only chooses to entertain cash buyers for the readily available stock; requests for loans were just put on to the growing waiting list.
The BYD Atto 3 started selling officially on 1st November in Thailand THB1,199,900 (around RM150k.

Mr. Panithan informed Blink Drive that people started queuing up at the BYD Kwang Thai Ekamai-Ramindra Showroom as early as 8pm, 31 October and the crowd grew to exceed thirty people by 4am. Even the police showed up not knowing what was happening but left soon after sensing no trouble in hand.
The ques were also present in all BYD showrooms nationwide. BYD Phetkasem had more that 100 people queuing up to purchase BYD Atto3 by 3 am.

In another dealership, BYD Spyder Bangna, we can see a potential buyer holding up his que number card reading 23. He started to queue from 4 am and the line had grown to over one hundred by 8 am.

BYD Thailand is distributed by Rever Automotive. However in Malaysia, BYD would be under the distributorship of Sime Darby Motors and the Atto 3 is expected to be launched this coming December. Do you think there would be a queue similar to Thailand at its soon to be announced showrooms?
