Aston Martin DB5 007 Stunt Car Auctioned Off At Over US$3.5 Million

A specially-built Aston Martin DB5 stunt car, reportedly one of eight produced for the filming of the latest 007 film titled No Time To Die, successfully raised US$3.53 million (approx. RM15.52 million) when it went under the hammer during a recent Christie’s charity auction in London.
Donated by Aston Martin Lagonda for the auction, this particular stunt car features key secret agent tech as seen in the film such as a rotating digital number plate, retractable headlights with pop-out Gatling guns, as well as the ability to fire prop bomblets.

In fact, this was one of the cars used in No Time To Die’s iconic opening action sequence that saw James Bond, reprised by actor Daniel Craig one last time, battling it out with baddies on bikes in the picturesque Italian town of Matera, behind the wheel of which.
This being a charity auction, funds raised from said stunt car’s auction will benefit The Prince’s Trust, the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund that provides aid to current and former members of UK Intelligence Agencies, alongside three charities that support serving and former members of the UK Special Forces.

Besides this DB5 stunt car, two other Aston Martin cars as seen in No Time To Die also went under the hammer alongside it, those being a 1981 Aston Martin V8 as driven by Craig and co-star Lea Seydoux, as well as a newer Aston Martin DBS Superleggera DBS 007 Edition driven by actress Lashana Lynch, both in the same film.
Funds raised by both cars also went to benefit good causes, with the classic V8 raising US$761,254 (approx. RM 3,347,234) to support the UN Refugee Agency. The DBS 007 Edition, on the other hand, commanded US$487,202 (approx. RM 2,142,227) for the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

“It is fantastic that the sale of this special car will now hugely benefit several good causes which are close to our heart, playing our own part in the long-standing tradition of the James Bond franchise supporting charitable causes,” said Aston Martin executive vice president and chief creative officer Marek Reichman following the auction of all three cars through Christie’s.
