Delta 4x4 Tunes Mercedes-Benz G-Class With Tracks!
Specialist German-based tuners Delta 4x4 took the web by storm earlier this week when it unveiled its latest build featuring a Mercedes-Benz G-Class. What really sets this build apart from the rest of its previous projects are the tracks fitted in place of traditional wheels and tyres.
Commissioned by a Swiss-based customer, this build sees Delta 4x4 fully converting what was a bone-stock Mercedes-Benz G500 into a proper extreme off-roader that’s driven on tracks. To house these tracks, Delta 4x4 firstly gave the G500 a 200 MM suspension lift before later adding extended flared wheel arches.
Apart from that, Delta 4x4 also brimmed this G500 with various extras like the modified front bumper with a brush bar, the roof rack, and the extra set of wheels. These, however, didn’t come cheap as they reported cost €20,000 (approx. RM 92,447)
Mind you, that’s excluding the cost for other modifications such as the suspension upgrades and the necessary approvals, both of which added another €19,000 (approx. RM87,825). Then there’s the tracks themselves which reportedly saw another €50,000 (approx. RM231,116) in parts and installation, plus another €50,000 (approx. RM231,116) spent towards homologating several pieces to meet Swiss legislation – including tests and inspections.
The price of all these modifications, totalling around €139,000 (approx. RM642,505) or so, is staggering indeed. For perspective, the Mercedes-Benz G500 this project used as its base only retails from around €130,203.85 (approx. RM601,846), meaning the modifications performed actually costs more than the base car itself.
By the way, this isn’t Delta 4x4’s first foray into expensive builds. It previously birthed a Suzuki Jimny with portal axles, as well as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan that’s been lifted and primed with a roof tent too. This latest endeavour however sees the firm arguably take things to extreme new heights.
With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, we reckon this is the sort of steed that Santa Claus himself would have approved of if he was somewhat of a car nut. What do you folks think of this extreme G-Class, then?
