EVs Make up 10% Of BMW Group Malaysia’s 2022 Sales

At the launch and opening of the new Wheelcorp Premium Bukit Tinggi dealership earlier today, BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director Hans de Visser revealed that Electric Vehicles (EVs) sales have bolstered the group’s 2022 sales efforts thus far.
“This year, up to 10% of vehicles we have sold are EVs,” said de Visser in his opening remark given at the aforementioned new dealership launch event. Given the group’s recent efforts at developing EV charging points for its customers nationwide, said figure is set to rise too.
To date, BMW Group Malaysia has provided its customers with access to over 610 charging facilities nationwide. Amongst them are both AC and DC fast-charging points present at key dealerships such as Wheelcorp Premium and Seong Hoe, of which the group states over 80 are now active.
Apart from that, the group has also forged strategic partnerships with key local EV charging infrastructure and development players such as JomCharge, Gentari, ChargEV, and YinSon Green Tech.

Access to these are critical to say the least, more so considering the number of BMW i and all-electric MINI models it currently has on sale. Highlights of the former include the i4 saloon, followed by the iX3 and iX SUVs, whereas the latter brand’s sole offering comes in the form of the MINI Cooper SE.
Said range is set to grow with the upcoming BMW i7 flagship EV saloon. Besides a private preview event held earlier this year, we’ve also recently spotted a few of them in transit for a private customer event organised by the group recently.
No word on when BMW Group Malaysia will officially launch this rival to the Mercedes-Benz EQS, but credible sources from within the group have confirmed with CariCarz.com that they’ve already received bookings by the hundreds.
