Mysterious Bertone GB110 Supercar Revealed – Just 33 units, each claiming 1,100 HP

After teasing it initially last month, the revived Bertone automotive design house has shown off what is effectively its first supercar called the GB110. It must be noted that the images provided are merely digital renders for now, not the actual car itself. Nevertheless, there’s plenty to gauge.

We’ll begin with the exterior design which, unlike everything else stated by Bertone, is far more detailed. For the GB110, Bertone says much of its styling came inspired by iconic wedge-shaped vehicles from the ‘60s, '70s, and '80s – a la Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Countach, for instance. This gets matched with striking touches such as Lamborghini-like scissor doors, plus stacked exhausts in trapezoidal outlets.

Bertone skirted from revealing any photos and details of the GB110’s cabin, but the initial exterior photos released does offer a glimpse to which. From that, we can note that the driver and passenger spaces are divided physically by a raised fin-like border, as well as typical modern supercar design touches such as a (presumably) fully digital instrument display and flat-bottomed steering.
Unfortunately, key details such as engine specifications and perhaps the original base of the GB110 weren’t disclosed by Bertone or its new owners – brothers Mauro and Jean-Franck Ricci. However, this didn’t stop the firm from stating a claimed output of 1,100 HP, 1,100 NM, and the ability to rev all the way up to 8,400 RPM.

Following up from those output figures, Bertone are also claiming the GB110 being able to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 2.79 seconds, 200 KM/H in 6.79 seconds, and 300 KM/H in 14 seconds before hitting a supposed V-Max of 380 KM/H. They’ve also confirmed that both an unknown 7-speed transmission type plus an all-wheel-drive (AWD) will enable these hypercar-like speed and performance too.
On top of which, Bertone was also keen to note that this mysterious powerplant will be built to run on fuel made from plastic waste sourced from a company called Select Fuel. Said firm is touted for its ability at converting polycarbonate materials into fuel that can run in combustion engines. While Bertone says they will supply each GB110 with said fuel, it didn’t specify exactly how much of which will be given.

As for the chassis, Bertone states that the GB110 is "based on components from a German manufacturer." The firm also confirms it will ride on independent double wishbones type suspension at both ends, complemented with four-way adjustable dampers as well. Apart from that, the firm again skirted away from giving out any other details surrounding this front.
Lastly, on the production and price front, Bertone only notes that just 33 examples of the GB110 will be made. As for how much each build will cost, as well as how and when it actually intends to produce them, remains a total mystery for now.
With too many plot holes in this supposed comeback story for the storied Italian coachbuilder, it’s hard to determine if the Bertone GB110 will become a reality beyond these initial digital design renders.
