Alfa Romeo Teases New Supercar with Its Taillight Design Unveiled
-full.jpg)
Famed Italian marque Alfa Romeo ushers in the new year by releasing a teaser video showcasing its upcoming supercar. For the first-time ever, the teaser video unveils a slight shot of the supercar’s actual taillight design.
Posted on Alfa Romeo’s official Instagram page, the rather short video montage starts with the marque welcoming the year 2023 by saying it will be a “thrilling, visceral, and emotional” year for them. The video then skips to a montage of Alfa’s current models, including the Tonale SUV, as well as the recently-facelifted Giulia and Stelvio.
The new supercar’s taillight design was unveiled right at the end of the video, alongside a phrase that reads “We Are” (ready).

Should you pause the video at the right moment, you will see the entire taillight design of this new Alfa supercar. Squint a little bit harder on said taillight and you’ll realise it is shaped like a 6 and a C letter, thus fuelling the automotive world with rumours of the illustrious 6C nameplate finally making a comeback after decades of hiatus.
The 6C nameplate has been donning the back of Alfa Romeo’s sportscar between 1927 to 1954. Few years back, the Italian marque tried to rejuvenate the 6C’s namesake by introducing both the 8C Competizione and 4C Competizione, in 2006 and 2013 respectively.
Numerically speaking, this new ‘6C Supercar’ will likely be slotted between the discontinued 4C and 8C Competizione, should it truly retain the famed nameplate. With both discontinued models boasting ICE powertrains, the same can’t be confirmed for this upcoming supercar.
Though said video teaser did not share any actual information on this upcoming supercar, Alfa Romeo officials have been giving hints for the past months regarding it. Speaking to Autocar UK, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparto said that this upcoming project could be announced as soon as March 2023. The CEO also hinted that the design of this new supercar will be inspired by iconic models from the past such as the iconic Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

Previously, Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Giulia SWB coupe, jointly-built by Milan-based coachbuilder, Zagato. This one-off model based on the Giulia was specially commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of the Alfa-Zagato partnership. Harnessing the Giulia GTAm’s 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill, the Giulia SWB boasts a power output of 533 HP and 600 NM.
This much-anticipated new Alfa will most likely be a limited-production model, which commonly comes with a rather hefty price tag. With Alfa Romeo poised to go EV-only by 2027, fingers crossed that this new supercar will be the Italian marque’s final swan song for its beloved ICE.
