Previewed: Peugeot Landtrek Pick-Up Truck – 150 HP & 350 NM, From RM123K
Besides the latest fourth-gen Kia Sorento model, BAuto (Bermaz Auto Berhad), also previewed the new Peugeot Landtrek pick-up truck. The Silver Lion marque’s most utilitarian offering to date is poised to make its official debut in Malaysia soon – making it the first in the Asia Pacific region to receive the model.
Based on the China-made Kaicene F70 pickups built by Changan Automobile, the Landtrek is the sole truck available in Peugeot’s current global line-up. Powering this midsize truck is a 1.9-litre turbo-diesel 4-cyl mill that delivers 150 HP and 350 NM of torque.
Said powertrain is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, plus a 4x4 driveline – as expected of any pick-up trucks as such.
In terms of design, the Landtrek’s front fascia features the striking design touches of the French silver lion brand – a la Peugeot 3008 and 5008 crossovers. The LED headlights come with an extended LED bit below them to resemble the lion’s fangs, which is the standard design language in any current-gen Peugeot model.
Apart from that, this midsize truck sports some utilitarian design notes, such as the side steps, roof rails, as well as the sportsbar for its flatbed.
On board, the Landtrek promises some premium touches and tech, headlined by the 10-inch HD infotainment display with Peugeot’s signature aviation-derived toggle switches. Said infotainment display boasts standard mobile connectivities such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 360-degree parking-view monitor feature.
As for safety, the Landtrek will come laced with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA plus Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR), both Hill-Start Assist (HSA) and Hill-Descent Control (HDC), as well as ISOFIX childseat anchors and top tethers.
BAuto says that orders for the new Peugeot Landtrek are now open via authorised dealers nationwide at an estimated price of RM123,000.
So, what do you think? Keen on this French redux of a China-made truck? Or would you still prefer something a little more ‘proven’ like the Ford Ranger XLT Plus that we’ve recently tested? Hit the comments below with your thoughts…
