Ford And Red Bull Will Develop ‘Exhilarating’ EVs Together

Having announced its partnership with Red Bull Racing over the weekend, Ford looks set to see its renewed Formula 1 re-entry through said partnership bearing other fruits off the circuit. Together, the partnership is poised to see the development of several ‘exhilarating’ electric vehicles (EVs) under the Ford Performance division in the process too.
After announcing its partnership and re-entry into the sport, Ford CEO Jim Farley also disclosed that the Blue Oval is planning to develop an electric car with the 2022 F1 World Constructors' champion. Plus, given the recent teaser released by the carmaker, it seems we may not have to wait long either.

“I was in a recent review with probably our most strategically important EV, and I turned to my skunkworks team that are developing this in secret, and I asked, 'Hey, who's doing the aero on this?' And he turns to me and says, 'Oh, they're from Red Bull. Formula One,” said the exec to online portal Motor1 regarding the matter.
Through a series of infographics released online by the firm, the plans indicate that a racy special based on the Ford F-150 Lightning pick-up truck will be developed. Other models hinted to receive similar treatment include the brand’s famed Mustang sportscar, followed by the Ranger Raptor pick-up truck as well.

Notably, the proposed F-150-based special will be parked under Ford’s EV demonstrator fleet, of which three already exists - one based on the Mustang Mach-E called the Mustang ‘Mach-E 1400’, followed by the ‘Mustang Cobra Jet 1400’, and the ‘SuperVan’.
At this point, it's unclear whether we're just anticipating a powerful electric truck or a more thrilling EV with F1-developed aero components. All we know is that, thanks to the recently established Red Bull Ford partnership, exciting things are about to happen.

Beyond these EVs, the Red Bull Ford partnership will begin work this year with a focus towards developing the next generation hybrid Formula 1 powertrains that runs on sustainable fuels and features a 350-kilowatt electric motor unit as well.
Ford will lend its technical know-how in areas such as combustion engines, battery cells, electric motor tech, control software for the power unit, and analytics, all of which will assist the Red Bull Powertrains division in the development process.
