Hennessey Debuts Tuned Chevrolet Corvette C8 With Over 700 HP!

American tuning firm Hennessey revealed its comprehensive upgrade package for the latest generation and now mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8. The package boasts a significant output from the famed American sportscar’s LT2 6.2-litre V8 thanks to the employment of a supercharger unit.

As a result, power has been raised from 490 HP and 630 NM up to 708 HP and 865 NM. This sees Hennessey trumping the factory-built Z06 flagship performance variant by a significant margin – said factory-made flagship only makes 670 HP and 624 NM.

Called the Hennessey H700 package, the firm’s powertrain fettling sees it better the Z06’s outputs by a whopping 44% in horsepower alone, as well as 37% in torque. The supercharger unit responsible for this is a high-flow centrifugal type unit that also features a custom air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler. It’s also offered with an optional cat-back exhaust kit.

Of course, this much power comes as a price, to which Hennessey has set a figure of US$49,950 (approx. RM 215,602) for the H700 kit tailored specifically to the Corvette C8. A set of lightweight wheels measuring 19-inches up front and 20-inches at the rear is included with said price, whereas paint finish options include Satin Black, Brushed Aluminum, and Graphite, plus red, silver, white, black, or blue body graphics.

Other additions include "H700" badging plus an individually numbered plaque. Additionally, Hennessey offers a 3-year or 36,000-mile (57,936 KM) limited warranty for the entire upgrade kit. According to Hennessey, the supercharger unit alone can be purchased as a stand-alone item, commanding a hefty US$34,950 (approx. RM152,382) price tag on its own.

John Hennessey, founder of Hennessey Performance, goes as far as labeling this latest H700 kit as "the best value high-performance supercar in the world". Beyond the powertrain upgrades and enhanced aesthetics, there are reportedly no changes done to the factory-fitted 8-speed DCT box from Tremec as it appears to be able to handle the extra power.
