Loke: Titiwangsa Terminal Will Become Main Public Transport Hub
The Titiwangsa terminal in Jalan Pekeliling will be developed as a public transport hub connecting various transportation services in the Klang Valley area. This was confirmed by Transport Minister Anthony Loke earlier today, Berita Harian reports.
The terminal will be constructed based on a transit-oriented development (TOD) model which will connect bus services, the KL Monorail, LRT Ampang and Seri Petaling lines, as well the MRT.
Loke also explained that the public transport hub is still in its discussion stage. He added that it will be built in several phases as well.
“The factors of connectivity and the size of the area are among the main factors in the selection of Titiwangsa station as a public transport hub. Its location near Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) also encouraged the idea,” he highlighted.
As noted, the project will focus on aspects concerning first and last mile connectivity beyond which provided by feeder buses. Due to that, the Ministry is planning to work with other companies like taxis and e-hailing services to find a solution.
He also admitted that the infrastructure for this type of vehicle needs to be developed to make it easier for users. "We also need to allow and encourage the use of micromobility vehicles because the previous ruling prohibits their use on the road," Loke added.
