Mazda Prices Allegedly Set To Go Up, Some By Up To RM26K

A screenshot of what appears to be an internal presentation slide by (presumably) a local dealer has gone viral on social media this week, and it alleges that the Mazda brand and models on sale in Malaysia under Bermaz Auto Sdn Bhd are set to experience a price hike.
These raised prices will allegedly take effect starting tomorrow (April 1, 2023). Additionally, the viral slide image also hints at possible updates to several models as well, especially amongst the Mazda brand’s fully imported (CBU) offerings like the Mazda 2 sub-compact, the Mazda 3 C-segment fighter, as well as the Mazda 6 D-segment saloon.

Both the Mazda 3 (top) and Mazda 2 (below) ranges will allegedly see their prices up by RM10,200.
Moreover, these trio were noted with a ‘New IPM’ tag which, according to an insider source, is Mazda lingo for minor model year updates – a la Honda’s MMC or BMW’s LCI terminologies. Based on the viral slide, both the made-in-Thailand Mazda 2 and the made-in-Japan Mazda 3 are set to experience a sizable RM10,200 price hike each.

The Mazda 6 D-segment saloon and estate range sees the biggest price hike, allegedly that is.
Moving up, the Mazda 6 saloon will experience the largest price hike amongst all. The saloon’s base 2.0-litre variant is expected to rise by about RM4,200, whereas both the higher-specced 2.5-litre saloon and ‘Touring’ estate/wagon (noted as ‘TR’) variants will experience larger increments of RM26,200 and RM12,200 respectively.

Bermaz officially offers the MX-5 sportscar in its MX-5 RF form featuring a RHT.
Another notable CBU model set to see raised pricing is the famed Mazda MX-5 sportscar. However, given that the model, sold by Bermaz in MX5 RF form with a retractable hard-top (RHT), already commands a hefty RM275,154 (sans insurance) figure, we reckon prospects sizing it up won’t find the alleged RM4,200 price hike a deal-breaker.

Locally assembled (CKD) CX-30 also not spared from a possible price hike.

The viral screenshot also hints that other Mazda models will experience a minimal price increase of RM200.
CBU models aside, the locally assembled (CKD) Mazda CX-30 crossover SUV, which was just launched recently, will see its prices allegedly raised by RM3,500. Apart from that, the viral image alleges that all other remaining models will experience a minimal price increment of roughly RM200.
At the time of writing, Bermaz has yet to comment on the matter, so the reason behind these price adjustments – should they become true – remains unclear. CariCarz.com has already placed an official enquiry and will update should the firm respond officially.
