The winner of 2023 World Car of the year has been fully revealed. For its 2023 edition, the Car of The Year award goes to Hyundai with its flagship EV IONIQ 6 and wins the coveted title, beating other finalists like BMW X1/iX1 and Kia Niro for the outright title.

Also announced during the ongoing New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), the swoopy Hyundai IONIQ 6 also brings home the World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year awards.

Meanwhile, the Kia EV6 GT has won the World Performance Car award by getting more votes compared to the redesigned Nissan Z including the all-wheel-drive (AWD) Toyota GR Corolla.

As for the World Luxury Category, the jury favors American EV startup Lucid to crown Lucid Air as the winner that slashes off two other models - BMW 7 Series and the Genesis G90 for the award.

The World Urban Car Award however was handed over to the Citroen C3, which battled against the Volkswagen Taigo/Nivus and the Ora Funky Cat (known as the GMW Ora Good Cat to us Malaysians).
