The GWM Cannon CyberP!ckup Is A PHEV 6X6 Monster Truck!

Yes, this pick-up truck rolls on 6 - SIX - wheels!
What you see here is perhaps an answer to the famed Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 by Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) - the same folks behind the 'cute' Ora Good Cat EV.
Dubbed as the Cannon CyberP!ckup, it bowed during Auto Shanghai 2023 earlier this week, and this monster pick-up truck of sorts even pack a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Best part? There's word that it will go into production soon and exported to select markets - more on this in a bit.
This wild off-roader was built by the GWM’s Co-Creation division in collaboration with Chaojing Motors, and it underpins the Shanghai Cannon pickup truck. According to GWM, the Cannon CyberP!ckup stands as China’s first 6×6 model as well.

Each 18-inch wheel comes shod in 33-inch Cooper Discover all-terrain tyres.
Modified to accommodate a third axle, it rolls on a total of six 18-inch wheels shod in 33-inch Cooper Discoverer all-terrain tyres. All are tied with a heavy-duty suspension suite primed with nitrogen shock absorbers, and up to five electronically controlled differential locks.
Driving all six wheels is a unique PHEV package comprised of a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor and battery with an undisclosed capacity. Altogether, the package delivers 510 HP and 750 NM in total, with its electrified setup promising up to 50 KM of all-electric driving range too.
Interestingly, GWM reportedly developed the CyberP!ckup to accommodate not only petrol-electric system mentioned, it will also accommodate a hydrogen fuel cell setup and serve as a battery-powered EV as well.
Mechanical bits aside, other noteworthy features of this six-wheeled dual-cab pickup include an aluminum winch, a pair of recovery hooks, overly flared fenders, as well as a 60:40-split tailgate opening. What’s even more interesting is the next set of facts…

The GWM CyberP!ickup also features a unique 60:40 split tailgate opening.
Though this may look like a typical one-off concept made for a major motor show that will likely not see light as a production model, spy shots of camouflaged prototypes published by Chinese auto media outlets indicates that this 6x6 beast is heading to production.
Additionally, sources online also report that the super-truck has already undergone homologation in China, and that a jacked-up (presumably lifted) 4x4 derivative of which is also being planned. Word also has it that Australia will be one of the model’s first export market, so perhaps we could see this massive six-wheeler entering other right-hand-drive (RHD) markets in the region – perhaps ours too.
Now, would you fancy this electrified Chinese alternative to the Mercedes-AMG six-wheeler mentioned? Hit the comments below with your thoughts!
