6-cyl AMG GT 4-Door Variants Refreshed With V8 Styling And New Tech
-full.jpg)
6-cyl variants of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door gets refreshed this week.
As Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) introduces the new GT63S E-Performance flagship variant of the AMG GT 4-Door locally this week at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023, it global parent has also rolled out a series of updates for the 6-cyl variants of said model.
Sharing similar bones as the W213 E-Class, both the GT43 and GT53 variants of the four-door coupe enters the European market this week in 2024MY guise with styling updates featuring cues largely inspired by its V8-powered flagship mentioned. Accompanying the styling tweaks too are a host of new on board tech.

Revised front fascia plus optional 'V8 Styling Package' sees both the GT43 and GT53 mirror the V8-engined GT63.
Both the GT43 and GT53 see their front faces now mirror the GT63 closely thanks to an X-shaped design front bumper that separates the lower centre air intake from the side intakes. Adding to which is a chrome strip stretching across the front bumper’s bottom.
Additionally, Mercedes-AMG also introduced a new ‘V8 Styling Package’ option for both. This adds a grille design that opens further downwards à la the AMG GT Black Series. Besides that, some of the existing trim packages have been tweaked, and there’s now a new "opalite white metallic" paint option introduced too.

Revised MBUX with tweaked AMG-specific displays plus wireless smartphone charging pad are the key changes on board.
On board, the kit list in both the GT43 and GT53 variants sees an extended list of standard equipment. Highlights include an electric sliding sunroof plus a wireless smartphone charging pad. In addition, the MBUX infotainment system has been updated with reworked AMG-specific displays.
Additionally, audiophiles will be glad to note that the optional Burmester audio system for both variants is now bolstered with newly added Dolby Atmos tech too. Apart from that, the wheel designs and the upholstery choices have been carried.

Aesthetic changes aside, both the GT43 and GT53 remains mechanically unchanged, both harnessing 3.0-litre in-line 6-cyl twin-charged mills primed with a 48-volt MHEV system.
These aesthetic changes aside, both the GT43 and GT53 variants remain mechanically unchanged from before, both employing identical 3.0-litre in-line 6-cyl twin-charged (both super- and turbocharged) petrol powerplants that are also primed with a 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system.
In the GT43, said package delivers 367 HP and 500 NM whilst the GT53 ups the ante further with higher 435 HP and 520 NM output figures. Both also see their MHEV systems offer temporary 22 HP and 250 NM boosts.
Paired with the three-point star’s 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic boxes plus 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivelines, the GT43 despatches 0-100 KM/H in just 4.9 seconds whilst the GT53 betters that slightly at 4.5 seconds. V-max, on the other h and, stands at 270 KM/H and 285 KM/H, respectively.

Flagship AMG GT63S E-Performance super-PHEV variant at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023.
Sadly, the availability of either versions of the AMG GT 4-door in Malaysia remains questionable despite the GT63S E-Performance flagship’s arrival this week, which costs over RM2 Million. MBM previously offered both the GT43 and GT53 variants, which were launched back in 2019 priced from RM1,098,888 and RM1,298,888 respectively.
Still, would any of you folks prefer this slightly lesser but still respectably rapid 6-cyl - and somewhat more affordable - versions of the four-doored AMG GT then?
