Malaysia Autoshow 2023: 2,200 Bookings Placed, EVs Account For 41%

MARii recorded a total of 190,000 visitors attending the Malaysia Autoshow 2023.
The Malaysia Autoshow 2023 concluded on a high note last week, and organisers MARii (Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute) have revealed some interesting stats generated by the four-day exposition.
Held at MAEPS, Serdang last week from May 4 to May 7, the show successfully attracted a total of 190,000 visitors across its four-day span. Citing participating OEMs, show organisers recorded a sales lead generation totalling over 6,800 to break the RM1 billion mark in terms of potential sales.

Key stats: Over 2,200 bookings for both four- and two-wheeled products placed, plus 3,500 and 2,800 test-drives and test-rides conducted respectively too.
Crucially, a total of 2,200 bookings were placed during the show itself by visitors, with said figure covering both two- and four-wheeled products. Additionally, organisers MARii notes that 41% of said figure were energised by electric vehicles (EVs) that were both launched and displayed during the show.
Not just static displays, both test-drives and test-rides were held throughout the show too, totalling at 3,500 and 2,800 respectively. Altogether, these test-drive and test-ride activities held during the show clocked in a staggering mileage of about 17,000 KM, notes MARii.

Key new EV product launches held includes the BMW iX1 xDrive30 M Sport (left), as well as the Neta V (right).

Other key EVs and EV-based tech showcased during the show included the Peugeot e-2008 (left), as well as this prototype mobile EV charging vehicle (right) from BMW and EVC.
Besides high sales bookings, EVs in general stood as the strongest presence throughout this edition of the Malaysia Autoshow. Key highlights included a bevy of key product launches from the likes of BMW Group Malaysia and newcomers Neta through distributors Intro Synergy.
EV-related tech showcases also helped energise this thanks. Key to this were the displays by the likes of EV Connection (EVC), System Consultation Services (SCS), REKA, as well as burgeoning independent players like ChargeSini (ChargeHere EV Solution Sdn Bhd).

Vehicle-based displays and activities aside, MARii were also keen to note the success of the show’s non-automotive supporting attractions organised. One key highlight here was the special concert stage headlined by local artistes which according to MARii, attracted about 5,000 attendees on its own.
"It was an eventful week and a heart-warming show of support from visitors who swarmed the halls of the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 this year,” said MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz. He also adds that “the large attendance and strongest showcase ever put together at the Autoshow is a testament to the continuous growth and excitement for things to come.”
