New MINI Countryman Uncharted Edition Proves You Can’t Have Too Many Specials

Meet the new MINI Cooper S Countryman ALL4 Uncharted Edition.

The BMW-owned MINI marque is set to welcome an all-new generation range of MINI models soon, which includes both the traditional 3-door hatch and its lifted, 5-door Countryman crossover twin. However, it seems the firm isn’t done phasing out the current-gen model, spawning a series of special editions for both of late.

Following up from the rather tasty manual-only JCW 1to6 hatch is this latest ‘Uncharted Edition’ of the MINI Cooper S Countryman ALL4. Effectively, this is the face-lifted, current-gen Countryman that we’re all familiar with. However, given the details released by MINI via its press release, perhaps the brand’s comms execs are perhaps suffering from ‘fatigue’ with these final-run specials.

Having barely mustered just a single paragraph of copy, the release does not detail much of the striking colourway this special is dressed in. Perhaps MINI’s comms execs would rather let these images speak for itself.

This special edition based on the exiting (outgoing) Countryman Cooper S ALL4 sports a rather striking aesthetics meant to reflect it's 'adventurous' spirit.

'Uncharted' badging are present in the front quarter panels.

Aptly, you can see that this Uncharted Edition special sees the MINI Countryman dressed in an eye-catching combination of greenish-grey and white to form its main dual-tone hue. In between are hints of black for the wheels, exterior cladding, headlight surround, roof rails, and window pillars. There’s also a stripe motif donning a tangerine hue present, as well as ‘Uncharted’ badges and side scuttles.

Unlike the exterior, this 'Uncharted' special sees a more restraint treatment with its interior tweaks.

'Uncharted' are present in both the steering wheel and passenger-side dash.

Revisions on board are far more restraint in contrast as it features gloss black-finished ‘Uncharted’ branding on the passenger-side dash, steering wheel, and door sill plates. These get matched with an ‘Uncharted’ key and black leather seats that seems to also sport contrasting microfiber accents. Apart from this, seems little else has changed on board.

At least the one-para press release did confirm some mechanical specs, like the fact that this special harnesses MINI’s signature 2.0-litre 4-ycl TwinPower Turbo mill and 8-speed automatic transmission with MINI’s signature ALL4 all-wheel-drive (AWD) suite. Power outputs stand identical to the base Cooper S-trimmed Countryman at 176 HP that, according to MINI, “ensures brand-specific, sporty driving fun”.
