Yesterday’s deadly plane crash near the suburbs or Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor continues to grab headlines nationwide. Of the 10 lives claimed by this disaster, authorities have confirmed that 2 of which were motorists who were commuting along Persiaran Elmina, Shah Alam, when the crash occurred.
According to Utusan, initial recovery and investigation operations that lasted through the night have concluded. Said daily also quoted Selangor Chief of Police Datuk Hussein Omar Khan saying that the stretch of road where the crash occurred will reopen by noon today (Friday, 18 Aug).
"We expect this road (Persiaran Elmina) to be opened at noon today and reduce the traffic congestion around this residential area stemming from its closure since yesterday afternoon’s incident," said Datuk Hussein to reporters this morning.
During a press conference held last night, the state’s top cop adds that following the second search and recovery operation concluded, police have started work on the third phase that includes moving the wreckage for further investigation by other relevant authorities.
Statement issued by PROLINTAS via Facebook regarding the GCE Elmina intersection (Exit 3504) being closed until further notice.
As for the Elmina intersection on the GCE (Guthrie Corridor Expressway), specifically Exit 3504, highway operators PROLINTAS have not confirmed its re-opening yet. At the time of writing, this intersection remains closed until further notice.
At 2:40 PM on Thursday, 17 Aug, a light twin-engine private jet with 8 on board - including a Pahang state assemblyman and EXCO member – crashed on to the road along Persiaran Elmina adjacent to Elmina Central Park near the GCE turnoff.
Viral dashcam footage shows the aircraft, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1), experiencing a sudden change in attitude and pitch before rapidly losing altitude and crashing. The aircraft was on final approach to land at Subang Skypark airport, but crashed some 5 KM away from said airport’s main runway.

As the aircraft impacted the ground, it also claimed the lives of a lone motorcyclist and a lone car driver. The remains of all 10 victims have since been recovered and transported to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang for post-mortem and identification processes.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. At the time of writing, authorities have reportedly recovered the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the wreckage. Members of the public with dashcam footage are also being sought to garner statements and aid investigators through their footage.
Additionally, authorities have also warned members of the public against spreading photos and videos of the victims online. This, according to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is an offense that’s punishable by law.
