Geely Launches High-Tech JI YUE Brand in Partnership with Baidu
Baidu will contribute expertise in smart cockpits, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence technologies.
Geely Holding Group has launched a premium intelligent technology brand, JI YUE, and unveiled its first high-tech model.
The JI YUE 01, the result of a collaboration with Baidu Inc on "automotive robotics," will be produced by Geely and will debut in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the press release issued by the automaker.

Baidu will contribute expertise in smart cockpits, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence technologies for use in JI YUE vehicles, according to Geely.
“Beyond overseeing sales, services, and marketing for the 01, JI YUE will also build and develop its own charging network in China to meet consumer demand for smart intelligent electric vehicles,” according to the statement.

The single-motor version will have a 200 kW motor, while the dual-motor version will have a front and rear motor, each with a 200 kW output for a total power of 400 kW. CATL will supply its ternary lithium battery. It's worth noting that the black model will be powered by Honeycomb Energy's lithium iron phosphate battery packs. The black model could be a limited edition, CarNewsChina reported.

Jiyue 01, positioned as a crossover SUV, has dimensions of 4853mm/1990mm/1611mm and a 3000mm wheelbase. Along with the Baidu Apollo system, which makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the new car has 31 sensors for assisting with driving, including two lidars and numerous 8-megapixel cameras.

In addition to offering three different rim designs, Geely also provides the dual-motor version with a two-color exterior and various optional sunroof designs.
On Monday, China's industry ministry website revealed that three electric vehicles bearing the JI YUE brand were awaiting regulatory approval.
Jidu, an electric vehicle venture, was co-funded by Geely and Baidu. As global tech companies scramble to develop smart cars, the brand launched a "robot" concept car in June, marking the first vehicle co-developed by the automaker and Baidu.
